Accomplishments
Over the past four years Mark Harris has made strides toward a more efficient and productive county even under financial pressures. If elected, his work in the next term will continue toward similar goals. His accomplishments include:
- Proposed balanced budgets and restored reserves
- Improved efficiency of the county:
- Maintained all services
- Reduced employment to a 15 year low
- Annual savings from reduced employment exceeding 4 million dollars
- Did not abandon nursing home
- New 168 bed facility with improved dignity and care
- Increased Medicaid reimbursements to the nuring home
- Reduced tax subsidy of nursing home
- Support for education through UW Fox Valley
- Increased investment in infrastructure
- 14 million over 5 years for road projects
- Eliminating the waiting list for human services to the elderly and disabled
- Continuing the County's commitment to energy conservation and to the use of renewable energy including landfill gas and solar energy
